What You Need to Know About Face Reading

Have you heard of face reading? This term often comes up when reading about Chinese Medicine, but is not as mainstream as some popular treatments like herbs and acupuncture.
Face reading adds insight and valuable diagnostic information into one’s current emotional patterns and overall health. It is one of the diagnostic methods found within classical Chinese Medicine. It was almost lost to history, but thankfully to Lillian Bridges of the Lotus Institute, the tradition lives on.
Face Reading is an amazing science that analyzes the structure, relationship and themes of the face to understand one’s overall health and personality tendencies. Much like looking at the rings of a tree to understand a trees age and history, the markings on the face also tell a story.
How Face Reading Works
Face Reading is broken down into three primary categories
Jing (essence): The physical structures, i.e. the mountains (cheekbones, nose and chin), rivers (eyes and mouth), planes (flesh accumulation) and valleys (where energy sinks). Jing also shows one’s facial age map and emotional patterns.
Qi (vital-energy): Your unique individual shape and expression of the twelve facial features, i.e. your hairline, forehead, eyebrows, brow bone, eyes, cheek bones, nose, lips, mouth chin, jaw and ears. In addition to the shape of various facial features, the coloration of skin at specific areas can indicated the relative health or imbalance of a particular organ system.
Shen (spirit): The radiance of your vitality expressed through your eyes and face in general. Ideally, there is a health glow to the face and a glimmer in one’s eyes.
One of the incredible benefits of getting a face reading is that your face can give insights into your overall health, including life experiences and personality traits. After a face reading, we can put a holistic plan in place, including acupuncture treatments.
